About Me

My photo
I am usually typing on a computer most of the day, but today I am trying my hand at a new project: My 2011 365-Day Photo Journey. I gained a love for photography when I was required to take a fine arts class for college--I chose photography. The course required a lot of work--Professor Loehr saw to that--but it opened my eyes to a new world. It's been many years since I took that class and I don't know how much I actually remember, but following Laura Delagal's 365 Photo Journey and watching my niece's love for taking pictures has peeked my interested in photography again. Although I don't have a professional camera, I did receive a really nice Sony digital (point-and-shoot) camera from my sweetie for Christmas this year. Going through some difficult times in my life, I thought that undertaking my own 365-day photo journey might be a way to relieve a little stress and have some fun with my new toy. Through this journey I will capture some of life's joy and its pain, but I will also be able to refocus the lens of my life on the many wonderful things that God has created. Well, here goes. Wish me luck!

Day 86 - 3/27/2011

Easter at the Fairgrouds
This Easter a local church will hold their church service at the Greater Gulf State Fairgrounds in conjunction with this year's Mayfest.  Anyone interested in more information can go to http://www.easteratthefairgrounds.com/    It should be a great Sunday.  That morning the church will serve a free breakfast, then we will meet for the Easter service, and close with big Easter egg hunt.

While this may not be one of my better photos, I am about photo'd out for the day.  Working in the yard yesterday pretty much wore me out!  It was a little hard to be very creative with this sign.  I placed this sign in my yard this afternoon after I got home from church today, then I got out my trusty camera and took a couple of shots.  The ground is a little hard and I'm not sure that it is secure enough in the ground--we'll see.

One thing I can say, I can hardly wait for Easter Sunday, when we celebrate our risen Lord at Easter at the Fairground!

Come and join us!

  1. I looked at the info about the Easter service. This should be a wonderful time.I hope many people show up to celebrate this important event.Where would we be without the resurrection?

  2. if i was by your location, i would love to join your easter celebration. I would bet that my daughter would love it!!!

  3. Sounds great, Cheryl!

I know what you mean about being 'photo'd out' - I get like that often, I'm afraid.
