About Me

My photo
I am usually typing on a computer most of the day, but today I am trying my hand at a new project: My 2011 365-Day Photo Journey. I gained a love for photography when I was required to take a fine arts class for college--I chose photography. The course required a lot of work--Professor Loehr saw to that--but it opened my eyes to a new world. It's been many years since I took that class and I don't know how much I actually remember, but following Laura Delagal's 365 Photo Journey and watching my niece's love for taking pictures has peeked my interested in photography again. Although I don't have a professional camera, I did receive a really nice Sony digital (point-and-shoot) camera from my sweetie for Christmas this year. Going through some difficult times in my life, I thought that undertaking my own 365-day photo journey might be a way to relieve a little stress and have some fun with my new toy. Through this journey I will capture some of life's joy and its pain, but I will also be able to refocus the lens of my life on the many wonderful things that God has created. Well, here goes. Wish me luck!

Day 202 - July 21, 2011

Mother and her hairdresser Darnell
Tomorrow, July 22nd, we will celebrate mother's 82nd birthday.  Since she has not been getting a really good hairdo since she has been at the nursing home, I called her hairdresser, Darnell, and asked her if she would go to the nursing home to fix mother's hair.  She agreed to do so, and you can see the results.  Mother's hair looked fabulous, and when Darnell left, mother had a big smile on her face.

I'll bet you haven't seen her looking that this in a while?  I know I haven't, and that do was well worth it!  Thanks, Darnell!  My momma looked and felt pretty!!!

Day 201 - July 20, 2011

Bridget's Paw
Sometimes it seems impossible to take a picture of Bridget.  She is fast as lightening.  And as soon as she sees the little light on the front of my camera, she buzzes around so fast that all I can get is a pic of her backside.

Bridget is most definately a lap dog, and occassionally she enjoys laying on the floor or on her pillow.  This evening she wanted up in my lap.  She had her paws resting on my legs.  She kept turning her face away from the camera, so, I took a picture of the only thing I could get . . .

Day 200 - July 19, 2011

Bird Feeder
Now if I could only get a picture of it with a bird on it.  :-)

And, yeehaw, this is my 200th photo, even if I am behind in posting it.  I'm still excited!!!

Day 199 - July 18, 2011

Kellyanne - Nonna's Little Angel!
xoxoxo

Day 198 - July 17, 2011

Purple Daylilly
It's electric!

Day 197 - July 16, 2011

Kellyanne - What a face!  :-)
I was getting to watch Kellyanne for a little while, and one of my daughter's friends has given me this little play station contraction (I have no idea what you call them.)  It looks like a walker, but it doesn't have wheels.  Still, it allows her to sit up in it and play with the little things all around on it.  Kellyanne played with the toys for a little while, but then she started to get tired.  I took several pics of her with that cute smile of hers, but I couldn't resist posting this pic of her.  It looks like she's say, "Nonna, what are you doing with that camera again!"  lol

Day 196 - July 15, 2011

My Cherry Red Crepe Myrtles
Aren't they beautiful?

Day 195 - July 14, 2011

Flower
I don't know what kind of flower this is, but it the plant is easily transplanted and requires very little upkeep.  My kind of plant!

Noreen, you inspired me to keep going.  I have been so tired that I just didn't have the energy to keep up with all of the picture taking, posting and blogging.  But I'm trying to do some yoga and eating healthier (along with taking some supplements), in addition to lots and lots of daily prayer.  So, I'm going to give it a go.  I will confess that some of the pics are cheats.  This photo was actually taken a day or two before, but you know me, I'm a photo taking fool.  So while most days I've taken pics, I will have to confess that a few of these I had to borrow from days where I had a plethora of photos.  I hope you don't mind.

Day 194 - July 13, 2011

Flip flops in the sand
Not the best photo, but I'm trying not to give up on the project.  I didn't even take the time to put my watermark on it.  But there you have it.  It's always nice to kick off your flip flops in the sand and go walking on the beach, especially late in the afternoon when it's a little more quiet than earlier in the day.

Day 191 - July 10, 2011

An unusual tree.  Female perhaps?
Looks like she's wearing lipstick.  ;-)  I'm just saying . . .

This tree is located outside of Dick Russell's BBQ in Tillman's Corner.  Definately glad that I always carryh my camera with me.

I'm still behind on my Bible study, and visiting blogs.  Now I have a sore throat.  I can't seem to get caught up with everything.  I've been spiratically hitting a blog or two here and there.  This summer Bible study is so important to me. It's called Breaking Free, by Beth Moore.   I need to know victory from the bondage that has so long held my life captive.  So, my Bible study comes first (besides having to work and taking care of my health, which has been a little fragile), and everything else has to fit around that.  We are getting to some very difficult material, and I covet your prayers over these next few weeks.  I believe that I will be able to keep up with the blog and the Bible study, I just may have to limit my blog visits.

I know that many of you juggle as many things as I do and I applaud you for your organizational skills.  My goal is set on the prize--being freed from bondage (1st) and completing this 365-photo journey.   I look forward to visiting you later this week.

Day 190 - July 9, 2011

My mother with a new hairdo
This morning I went to visit mother.  Although they have a hair salon at Allen Memorial, the hairdresser has not been able to fix mother's hair to our satisfaction.  So, I went Saturday morning and did my best to fix her hair myself.  I had done it some when she lived with me and no one could get her to the hair salon.  Her new hairdo put a smile on her face.  It was nice to see her smile again (especially after I had made her mad not 15 minutes earlier  lol)

Later that afternoon, my neighbor Liz asked me if I wanted to ride down to Dauphin Island with her.  We sat on the beach, grabbed a little sun and watched the waves roll in.  Sitting by the water, especially once the crowd has died down, is so peaceful!

Me - relaxing on the beach

Day 189 - July 8, 2011

Wooden Flower Bucket

Day 188 - July 7, 2011

germinated bird seed
I don't know exactly what this is, but it's where some of the bird seed has fallen from the bird feeder and germinated.  I have all kinds of things growing in this flower bed now.  :-)

Day 187 - July 6, 2011

My rearview mirror
When I came out to the car this afternoon this is what I found--my rearview mirror sitting in the seat of my car.  Let me tell you that it was a fun ride home.  I was hoping that I could just get some glue to stick it back on the glass.  However, I was unable to get the piece that holds the mirror the window separated from the arm so that I could glue it.  So, I ended up buying a new mirror.  Thankfully, it only cost me $15.

Day 186 - July 5, 2011

Althea flower bud
All of the flowers on the Althea tree had vanished.  I thought this tree was through flowering for the year, but actually, it was just so thirsty and draught-stricken that the poor thing couldn't flower.  We've had several wonderful rainy days, and look what I found today--several beautiful buds and a half dozen blooms.  It was a beautiful sight to see.

Day 185 - July 4, 2011

Wild Mushroom
Well, I'll confess, I didn't actually take any pictures at all on July 4th.  I didn't have any plans on the 4th, but I called a couple of lady friends from church on the chance that they were like me--alone on the 4th.  We had a great lunch together and watch a couple of movies.  It turned out to be a great day.  I had several opportunities for pics, but I've been so exhausted with the fibro--the worst attack that I've had in years, that taking a photo just escaped me, I guess.

So, today is a cheat day.  I made myself go out for several walks with the dog and took a couple of pics while I was out.  Forgive me for not visiting too many of your blogs the last few days. All I have wanted to do is sleep and sleep and sleep .  . .  lol  . . . This too shall pass!

Day 184 - June 3

My sweet Kellyanne

Day 183 - June 2, 2011

Lawnmower
I have had the hardest time uploading this photo, but finally . . . I tried to cut the grass on Friday, but only got 1/2 of the front yard cut before I had to push the lawnmower in the shade.  I had done all that I could do, and it was only 10 a.m.  I have been pretty much sidelined since.  This is about the worst fibro attach that I have had in years!  Later in the day I put the lawnmower away and will just wait until someone can help me out.

Farewell to Brandi
Brandi became an admissions counselor right after her graduation from Spring Hill.  On Wednesday, we said farewell to her.  She has decided to take a job in Mississippi as a college counselor.  Brandi was always my go-to girl in the Admissions Office.  She will be missed very much on the Hill!
