About Me

My photo
I am usually typing on a computer most of the day, but today I am trying my hand at a new project: My 2011 365-Day Photo Journey. I gained a love for photography when I was required to take a fine arts class for college--I chose photography. The course required a lot of work--Professor Loehr saw to that--but it opened my eyes to a new world. It's been many years since I took that class and I don't know how much I actually remember, but following Laura Delagal's 365 Photo Journey and watching my niece's love for taking pictures has peeked my interested in photography again. Although I don't have a professional camera, I did receive a really nice Sony digital (point-and-shoot) camera from my sweetie for Christmas this year. Going through some difficult times in my life, I thought that undertaking my own 365-day photo journey might be a way to relieve a little stress and have some fun with my new toy. Through this journey I will capture some of life's joy and its pain, but I will also be able to refocus the lens of my life on the many wonderful things that God has created. Well, here goes. Wish me luck!

Day 69 - 3/10/2011

Yesterday the weather in the area was dreadful!  A tornado hit a service station, a grocery store and a hardware store in Theodore, probably 2-3 miles from my house.  I am thankful that no one was seriously hurt.  Today the weather was absolutely gorgeous!  Although the students are on spring break, neighborhood families were taking the opportunity to ride bikes on campus or stroll around campus.  Unfortunately, I didn't get a very close-up shot, but I liked that it showed people out enjoying the nice sunny day, even though the front that came through turned the temperatures a bit cooler.

  3. Hi Cheryl, I was reading your introduction to your bloog(profile) and I found two things that caught my attention. first... I also spend most of the time typing on the computer. but now I started also a P365. starting also this year. so lets see how it goes for us. Second. thing that I noticed is that you are following Laura Delagal's blog. what a coincidence haha... but well I need to admit that she takes amazing pictures.

I wish you all the luck and I hope we can learn together.

  5. Good to hear that nothing serious happened. Tornadoes are the one thing that make spring less desirable. I love your public pictures! I need to get out more and try it myself:)
