About Me

My photo
I am usually typing on a computer most of the day, but today I am trying my hand at a new project: My 2011 365-Day Photo Journey. I gained a love for photography when I was required to take a fine arts class for college--I chose photography. The course required a lot of work--Professor Loehr saw to that--but it opened my eyes to a new world. It's been many years since I took that class and I don't know how much I actually remember, but following Laura Delagal's 365 Photo Journey and watching my niece's love for taking pictures has peeked my interested in photography again. Although I don't have a professional camera, I did receive a really nice Sony digital (point-and-shoot) camera from my sweetie for Christmas this year. Going through some difficult times in my life, I thought that undertaking my own 365-day photo journey might be a way to relieve a little stress and have some fun with my new toy. Through this journey I will capture some of life's joy and its pain, but I will also be able to refocus the lens of my life on the many wonderful things that God has created. Well, here goes. Wish me luck!

Day 218 - August 6, 2011

Yes!  I've caught up, once again.  :-)  Well, at least with my photo journey.  I still have to catch up on my Bible study (and then there's always house work, which is a never ending project).

And I didn't get much of that done today, but I had a very good reason.

My pretty girl!

Kellyanne playing on the floor.

Nonna's little angel
I had a very sweet and cute visitor today.  Don't you think I had a good reason to skip the house work today?  Yeah, I do too!  :-)

Day 217 - August 5, 2011

Duh?  A turtle
I was probably the last person to leave the campus on Friday, but I wanted to be sure to leave things in good shape so that I knew where to pick up on Monday.  When I went to get into the car I noticed a turtle walking underneath my car and the little brown-shelled thing stopped right behind my right front tired.  Well, I could not pull out and back over the the turtle.  I couldn't bare to hear that crunch.  So, I reached into the car and grabbed my umbrella.  With the tip end I scooted the turtle out of the way just far enough that I could back out.  When I passed by, the turtle was heading back into the bushes.

You just never know what your going to find on SHC's campus.  lol (cats, racoons, roosters, turtles)

Day 216 - August 4, 2011

Toys in my yard
Lately, I find all kinds of things in my yard - it ranges from a small dog in a carrier in my driveway (yes, you heard right) to this little toy truck, and much more.  The dog upset me, because if I hadn't walked out to the edge of my garage, which I rarely do, I would have run over the poor little thing.  This little truck, I can handle.  I'm just waiting for its owner to claim it.  So far, it's been parked in my hard for a week, maybe longer.  Some poor little fella doesn't remember where he left his truck!

Day 215 - August 3, 2011

Crepe Myrtle
I finally took a close up pic of a Crepe Myrtle and everything blurred like I wanted it too!  Usually, when I try that, everything in the pic blurs.  But not this time.  I wish I knew what I did right.  Oh well, I'll just enjoy the moment.  :-)

Day 214 - August 2, 2011

Truvy: Annelle, let's talk some trash

Day 213 - August 1, 2011

Basil has begun flowering

Day 212 - July 31, 2011

Caro @ the Mariner
Tonight we celebrated July birthday's at the Mariner.  I think we had somewhere in the neighborhood of 30-32 in our group (2 long tables full of great people).  Some come to our Sunday School class (The Pathfinders) regularly and others are singles who minister in other areas of the church or perhaps attend another Sunday School class.

I have known Caro since I first came to Dayspring.  Her and her husband Jim, who passed away several years ago, were such welcoming faces to me.  I always got a hug from them.  I miss Jim, but Caro stands at the door and greets me with a smile and a hug each Sunday morning.  She has gone through some serious health situations in the past year, and it is so good to see her out and about with a big smile on her face.  Love ya, Caro!

Day 211 - July 30, 2011

Pretty in Pink

Day 210 - July 29, 2011

Dwarf Azalea
I was surprised when I walked out to my car to find a few blooms on one of the dwarf Azalea bushes outside.  It was nice to see since this heat has just about dried up all of the blooms on all of the shrubs around campus.

Day 209 - July 28, 2011

Interstate Construction (1-10)
Road crews have started construction on Interstate 1-10 near Tillman's Corner.  The traffic is always so slow around this area.  The speed limit has been reduced to 50 mph.  Of course, some people go the speed limit and some never notice that new signs have been posted; well, that is until they see the blue lights in their review mirror.  Anyway, it appears that we will have to deal with this stop-and-go traffic going to and from work for quite some time.  grrrr!

Day 208 - July 27, 2011

Fire Pump

Day 207 - July 26, 2011

Mushroom
It seemed like we would never get any rain.  Now, we get rain most every day.  And as a result of all of this rain my yard is sprouting mushrooms everywhere.  So, for the next week or so, you might see a variety of mushrooms pop up on the blog.  There are so many different shapes appearing in my yard and over time, they change colors.  Yep, I think you may see more of these in the blog (especially since I have almost no flowers now to speak of and I haven't gone anywhere because it's just too hot to go anywhere).

Day 206 - July 25, 2011

Madi wanted to give Kellyanne sugar - how sweet?!

Day 205 - July 24, 2011

Annie & Mitchell

Day 204 - July 23, 2011

Clint and Stephanie
Although today is my sister's birthday, I realized that somehow I didn't get a pic of her.  I think it's because we all got together at her house for a family cookout and she was flitting around here and there.  However, my son Clint and his girlfriend Stephanie were down from South Carolina.  Don't they make a cute couple?  Stephanie is a really sweet young lady, and we had a great time visiting with her.  It was also great to see my son.

Family get togethers are great and we had plenty of food!

Day 203 - July 22, 2011

Helen Jean Bush Haywood Barnett - 82nd Birthday

Mother and her three daughters (Cheryl, Phyllis & Regina)

Today we celebrated mother's 82nd birthday. Although everyone in the family didn't get to make it down to the nursing home, we had a good number that were able to go.  Our visit put a big smile on her face (well, at least for a little while).  She ate a cupcake, and we sang happy birthday to her.

It is always so wonderful to see her alert and smiling like she was today.  We love you mom!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
