About Me

My photo
I am usually typing on a computer most of the day, but today I am trying my hand at a new project: My 2011 365-Day Photo Journey. I gained a love for photography when I was required to take a fine arts class for college--I chose photography. The course required a lot of work--Professor Loehr saw to that--but it opened my eyes to a new world. It's been many years since I took that class and I don't know how much I actually remember, but following Laura Delagal's 365 Photo Journey and watching my niece's love for taking pictures has peeked my interested in photography again. Although I don't have a professional camera, I did receive a really nice Sony digital (point-and-shoot) camera from my sweetie for Christmas this year. Going through some difficult times in my life, I thought that undertaking my own 365-day photo journey might be a way to relieve a little stress and have some fun with my new toy. Through this journey I will capture some of life's joy and its pain, but I will also be able to refocus the lens of my life on the many wonderful things that God has created. Well, here goes. Wish me luck!

Day 220 - 8/8/2011

My little hunting princess.  :-)
Melvin bought Kellyanne this hat when she was born, it goes so well with the little ruffled camo outfit that she was wearing.  She's just too cute for words!  (I know, I'm not prejudice one little bit!!!)

Day 218 - August 6, 2011

Yes!  I've caught up, once again.  :-)  Well, at least with my photo journey.  I still have to catch up on my Bible study (and then there's always house work, which is a never ending project).

And I didn't get much of that done today, but I had a very good reason.

My pretty girl!

Nonna's little angel
I had a very sweet and cute visitor today.  Don't you think I had a good reason to skip the house work today?  Yeah, I do too!  :-)

Madi wanted to give Kellyanne sugar - how sweet?!

Day 204 - July 23, 2011

Clint and Stephanie
Although today is my sister's birthday, I realized that somehow I didn't get a pic of her.  I think it's because we all got together at her house for a family cookout and she was flitting around here and there.  However, my son Clint and his girlfriend Stephanie were down from South Carolina.  Don't they make a cute couple?  Stephanie is a really sweet young lady, and we had a great time visiting with her.  It was also great to see my son.

Family get togethers are great and we had plenty of food!

Day 190 - July 9, 2011

My mother with a new hairdo
This morning I went to visit mother.  Although they have a hair salon at Allen Memorial, the hairdresser has not been able to fix mother's hair to our satisfaction.  So, I went Saturday morning and did my best to fix her hair myself.  I had done it some when she lived with me and no one could get her to the hair salon.  Her new hairdo put a smile on her face.  It was nice to see her smile again (especially after I had made her mad not 15 minutes earlier  lol)

Later that afternoon, my neighbor Liz asked me if I wanted to ride down to Dauphin Island with her.  We sat on the beach, grabbed a little sun and watched the waves roll in.  Sitting by the water, especially once the crowd has died down, is so peaceful!

Day 165 - June 14, 2011

Arthur Crocker
Arthur has been working out of town for a long, long time.  It is so nice to have him back in town with his family.  We missed him soooo much.  We love you, Uncle Arthur!

Day 164 - June 13, 2011

Madilyn Grace Courtney
Today is another cheat day.  I have been suffering with tremendous back pain all day long.  I took this photo yesterday at the family get together at my daughters house.  There were so many photos that I could post pics for a week.  I have been looking for some really unique photos, but I have been on a heating pad all afternoon, so, no new photos.   Instead, I have been trying to catch up on my posts. It's a good thing that my house is cool.  :-)  Besides, how could I pass up posting a face that cute?  Isn't she a doll?  Madi is actually my nieces daughter, and she is just a cutie pie!  She gave me quite a few photographic moments yesterday, but I also missed quite a few (using my point-and-shoot--).  This little lady, who is 18 months old, moves around like lightening.

Since I am about caught up on posting, hopefully I can now catch up on visiting your blogs.  Thanks for your patience with me, my friends!

Day 163 - June 12, 2011I

Kellyanne Elizabeth Moody
My precious angel.  She gets prettier with each passing day.  I know I'm prejudice, but I'm allowed to be, she's my little sweetheart.

Have I mentioned how much I love being a grandmother.  Well, let me say it again, just in case you missed it.  I LOVE BEING A GRANDMOTHER!  It is just one of God's rich blessings He has bestowed on me.

Day 156 - June 5

Kellyanne

Kellyanne

I got to keep my cute little granddaughter for the morning while my daughter took some time for herself.  Unfortunately, my air conditioner is on the blink and me and this little lady started to get very hot.  I pulled in a couple of fans that I keep in the garage to try to keep us as cool as possible. Even though it was hot, we got in our usual photo shoot.  I would love to try a few poses with her but I think she is teething, not to mention it was about 87 degrees in my house, so she wasn't too cooperative as a model. She also wants to stand up at 3 months old.  She can't even sit up on her on yet or even crawl, but she keeps trying to push up on those legs.  She is going to be running around before we can even blink!

Day 130 - May 10, 2011

Kellyanne Elizabeth Moody
I am cheating on my post today.  This photo was taken on Saturday when my granddaughter spent the afternoon with me.  She and I had lots of fun with the camera (well, I'm sure it was mostly me having fun).  Today I was just too exhausted after work to take any pictures, thus I'm posting a photo from Saturday.  Besides, one can never post too many pics of grandchildren, can they?

She's my little angel!

Day 93 - 4/3/2011

Little Miss Kellyanne
I am cheating a bit today.  Yes, I must confess that I didn't take any photos today.  Church was fabulous and then I went to the nursing home to visit my mother and I had to deal with some issues when I got there, so  . . . taking pictures was honestly the last thing on my mind.  I did take this photo Saturday night, so I did take it this weekend.

My sweet little granddaughter was just so intent on her mother's voice and she was smiling at the sound of Kelly taking.  It was precious.  You can tell by the look on her face that she loves her momma!  I wish I had taken the picture showing Kelly and Kellyanne's face but, as they say, hind-sight is 20-20.

Goodnight, my blog friends.  I have tried to check in on some of your blogs, so hopefully I'm not too far behind. I have Bible study on Monday night, but I hope to catch up with everyone later in the week.  I miss you with I don't get to see your photos and the work that you have been doing.  I learn so much from each of you.  God bless each of you, and good night!

Day 84 - 3/25/2011

Regina Dunnam & Kellyanne Elizabeth Moody
My baby sister turns 49 today.  I thought since today is her birthday, I would post a photo of her holding my sweet granddaughter.  Happy Birthday, Sista!  Love ya!!!

Next year, watch out--yep, she'll be the big 5-0!  :-))  The pictures of her will be quite different.  lol

Day 78 - 3/19/2011

Kellyanne Elizabeth Moody
Melvin and I went over to visit Kellyanne, since he hadn't seen her since she was born.  He also gave her a little camo cap that read, "Future hunting princess."  I meant to get a couple of pics of Melvin and Kellyanne, but I totally forget.  However, I take a few photos of her.  She and I had a nice little chat.  Of course, I did most of the talking and she did most of the listening, with a little cooing here and there.  lol  Either way, I could tell that she was already recognizing my voice and that's so wonderful!

Have I mentioned that I love being a grandmother?  :)

Day 71 - 3/12/2011

Kellyanne Elizabeth Moody aka Nonna's angel
Today began with a photo shoot with my little angel.  My niece Amanda is a superb photographer.  Not only did she photograph my daughter's engagement and wedding pictures, today she took some wonderful pictures of my precious little angel.  My daughter called me to see if I wanted to have my picture made with her and the baby.  Well, you know that I got myself ready and headed over to her house for a photo shoot.  And naturally, I brought my camera for a few photos as well.  I must have taken 40 photos of my little angel before I could help myself.  :-)

Although we were having fun taking pictures of Kellyanne, I can't say that she enjoyed her first real photo shoot.  (well, I guess it's not really her first photo shoot since she's been having her picture taken since the very moment she was born.).  Anyway, we had to take time to comfort her between set ups and, once again, I volunteered for that duty!

Amanda and I spent so much time taking pictures of the Kellyanne that I lost track of time.  I needed to be at the funeral home at 1 p.m. for the visitation of our Sunday School classmate and friend, Bobby Shaw.  I had cooked some purple hull peas that I had put up over the summer and needed to bring the peas over to Bobby's house for the gathering afterwards.  We had a wonderful gathering after the funeral--eating and enjoying fellowship together.  We shared our memories of Bobby and the mix of feelings over the loss of our friend!

Day 61 - 3/2/2011

Nonna and her precious granddaughter, Kellyanne Elizabeth
Many months back friends begin to ask me what grandmother name I wanted to be called--it seems there's quite a variety these days.  Well, I really hadn't thought much about it.  I knew that I didn't want to be called Ma-maw, since my my kids called my mother Ma-Maw and I called my dad's mother Mamaw.  My children called their dad's mother Nanny, but somehow that just didn't seem to fit me.  I don't know exactly why, but perhaps it was because I just didn't feel that I could ever fill Nanny's shoes.  She was quite a woman!  Not that the other grandmothers weren't; it's just that Nanny really had a way with my children. Okay, so I knew the names I didn't want to be called, but I still had to decided what I wanted my grandchildren to call me.

I had heard some of my friends being called  Mimi, Cici, Gigi, Nanna (short a sound), & Nana (nah-nah), and perhaps a few names that I just can't recall at the moment.  But the name that stuck out to me came from one of my co-workers who is Italian.   Her grandchildren call her Nonna, which is Italian for grandmother.  I just love to here her say, Nonna (no - nah)--of course, it might sound so lovely because of her beautiful Italitan accent.  Anyway, I liked it so much, that I chose to be called Nonna myself.  Besides, I've always liked to be different than everyone else.  Seems like I knew a lot of Mimi's and Nanna's. But, a lot will depend on what Miss Kellyanne and Mr. Lachlan can and will say.  Whatever they choose, I know that I will love it.  I'm so very proud to be a grandmother, however they choose to say it!

God has blessed me with two precious grandchildren.  This is a picture of me with Kellyanne.  Obviously, I didn't take it.  My daughter Kelly took it. But I thought it was too special for it not to be my photo of the day.   I hope soon to post a photo of me and Lachlan, Clint's son.  His birthday is coming up later this month and, just maybe, we will get to take a road trip for his birthday.

Well, it's nite nite for this grandmother!  I know that I'm behind on visiting all of my 365 neighbors' blogs, but I hope to visit each of your sites over the next couple of days.

Goodnight and God Bless you,
Nonna (aka, Cheryl)

Day 60 - 3/1/11

Kellyanne Elizabeth Moody
Born March 1, 2011, at 11:26 p.m. at Providence Hospital.  She weighed 8 lbs & 11 ozs.; 21 & 1/2 inches long.  I am not real sure that I took this picture, but I did crop it so that it was all about her.

Bill Moody & daughter Kellyanne
After mother and father had a little bonding time with Miss Kellyanne, we got to go to the room to visit with the family.  We entered the room to find the proud daddy holding his little girl.  What a sweet moment.  Then we all took turns holding her.  I think I left the hospital sometime around 2ish.  Was I a tired puppy today!

Kelly Kirkland Moody and daughter Kellyanne
After everyone had taken a turn loving on our sweet girl, we gave her back to her momma for a little bit.  Just as we were all getting ready to leave the nurse game to get her to take her to her warm bed in the nursery for a while.   Momma gave her little angel a kiss before she gave her to the nurse.

What a long day we all had, especially Kelly!  But when it was all over, we had a precious little girl--a wonderful gift from God.  Thank you Lord for Kellyanne Elizabeth Moody!

I feel so blessed that God has given me two great children, a wonderful son-in-law, and now two precious grandchildren--all whom I love dearly!  It just doesn't get any better than that!!!

Day 59 - 2/28/2011

Madilyn Grace Courtney
Cheese!

This is my great niece, Madilyn.  She is 14 months old.  And of course, I'm not the least bit prejudice, but I think that she is absolutely adorable.

She was at my daughter's baby shower yesterday; and, when she wasn't hanging on to her Nana's skirt tail, she was the entertainment for the party (oh to be young and energetic again lol).  Madi's mother is a very good photographer, so this little princess is used to being in front of the camera.  When I pulled out my camera and started taking pictures of Madi, she started strutting her stuff!  I just absolutely love this picture of her.  I mean, is that not the cutest smile you've ever seen?

Anyway, I knew that this had to be my picture of the day for today, even though I took it yesterday.  Of course my daughter had to be the centerfold for yesterday's photo.  And you know that Kelly and my new granddaughter, Kellyanne Elizabeth, will take center stage tomorrow.

I'll update you on the news and pics once she arrives.  :-)  Until then, say a prayer that my daughter will have an easy delivery and will deliver a healthy baby girl!  Thanks!!!
